Experimental Sculpture Collection

Negative Space
Materials- Wire, Masking Tape, Gel Medium, Wood

Focal Point
Materials: String, Wood, Hot Glue, Wood Glue

Repetition
Materials: Hot Glue, Wood, Gel Medium, Wire

Artist Statement: The three sculptures visually communicate negative space, repetition, and focal point. While working on the sculptures, I wanted to focus on creating unique designs for each one to show these ideas in different ways. I tried using paper pulp and had fun experimenting with its texture and flexibility. I felt the work was not producing the results I wanted, so I added more elements to each sculpture to make them more abstract and interesting. I want to keep exploring paper pulp because you can do so many different things with it. These sculptures allowed me to experiment with negative space, repetition, and focal points in new ways. Making this work gave me ideas about how to use simple materials to create more complex designs.

Our congregation, which was the first presbyterian one in Florida, was organized in June of 1824 during the Territorial Period in the state’s history.
The present sanctuary was given to the church by Henry Morrison Flagler as a memorial to his daughter and was dedicated in 1890.  Flagler’s daughter, Jenny Louise Benedict, died due to complications from childbirth.  Mr. Flagler and his first wife, Mary, are entombed in the Flagler family mausoleum, which is located in the church, along with daughter Jenny Louise and granddaughter, Marjorie.

The Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fort in the continental United States, is a large Spanish stone fortress built to protect and defend Spain's claims in the New World.
It is a National Monument, more than 327 years old, and is the oldest structure in St. Augustine.
Construction began on the Castillo de San Marcos in 1672 and lasted 23 years until 1695. Many Spanish forts preceded the Castillo.
However, this one made of coquina was impenetrable to enemy attack and was also fire resistant.
The fort came under fire for the first time in 1702.

Dinner and a Movie

Artist Statement: This piece visually communicates themes of secrecy. I carefully arranged the elements to create a sense of mystery and intimacy. I focused on subtle details and shadows to suggest things left unsaid or hidden. The use of light and composition was intentional to draw the viewer into the feeling of quiet moments and private emotions. My goal was to create an image that captures the complexity of secrecy while leaving room for personal interpretation.

Summer Secrets, Inspired by the movie Call Me by Your Name
